Veteran band to rock 2021 Hudson Valley Wine & Food Fest

The Hudson Valley Wine & Food Festival always has over the years been graced with a first-class live soundtrack. This year is no different, as the Backburners return to the festival stage for a two-day stand on Saturday and Sunday, September 11 and 12. Whether tearing up a swamp-stomping barn-burner, gently delivering a tender folk ballad or sailing uncharted seas of near-telepathic group interplay, the Backburners are a formidable, veteran musical collective steeped in the ethic of teamwork, spontaneity and fine musicianship. Lead vocals are passed between guitarist Kyle Esposito, bassist Doug Marcus and steel guitarist Kevin Maul. Harmonies are contributed by the aforementioned as well as by drummer Manuel Quintana and keyboardist Ross Rice. Bob Resnick’s percussion adds color and lift to soulful, rootsy originals and covers from outlaw country to classic Americana, rock and psychedelia. The band was formed in 2008 from the remaining members of the Meg Johnson Band after Meg moved to Austin. The fruits of many years playing together and a shared appreciation for the traditional as well as the experimental can be heard in the Backburners’ music. If you’ve been hanging out in Woodstock, you’ll no doubt know who they are, as the Colony and Bearsville venues are the closest thing to home turf for the band. Their sound is custom-made for keeping one’s feet moving and a smile on your face as you sample the delicious offerings of the festival.
